Polly Bessette is singer-songwriter raised in Rhode Island with a passion for lyricism and heartfelt folk tunes. From the green mountains of Vermont to the marshy coast of her home state, Polly pockets the imagery and sensation of New England life through thoughtful recollections of youth and identity within her songwriting. Her musical style arose from an admiration for 1960-1970’s country-folk legends and modern indie folk artists.
Polly was the 2025 recipient of First Prize for Best Music Video at the Rhode Island International Film Festival for her original song and video, “Sane Baby,” alongside local Film Director, Alex Watrous. She received the award for Favorite Americana Album at the 2025 Rhode Island Music Awards, presented by Motif Magazine. In 2024, Polly was placed on the Official Ballot for the 67th Grammy Awards by the Recording Academy for Record of the Year and Best American Roots Performance for her original songs, “Little Confessions”and “Sane Baby.”
